The Stanislaus Council of Governments’ Regional Early Action Planning (REAP) Grant helps bring together housing, land use, and transportation planning to support the region’s goals for building stronger, more sustainable communities. Started by California lawmakers in 2021, the REAP 2.0 program encourages partnerships among government groups at all levels (local, regional and state) to make progress on housing and climate goals.
With REAP 2.0 grants, state and local teams can create plans to cut down on driving, support fair housing, and provide more options for affordable housing. The grants also help fund projects that improve neighborhoods—like building up areas that already have established roads and public utilities (instead of more housing built away from services), protecting the environment, and making it easier to walk, bike, or take public transit. By working together on strategies to enhance communities, reduce driving, and create better walking and biking paths, REAP grants offer lasting benefits for the region.
